Reflections of a Proud Dad Moment

This month a proud Dad moment stopped me in my tracks and stirred some emotions as to how thankful I am for my wife, kids, and family.
I share this reflection because there are lessons learned that any of us can take away from and use in our professional lives.

Quick historical check:

  • My daughter, Camryn enrolled at Madison Christian School to begin her 8th grade year. She graduated from there in 2018 and excelled academically as well as in basketball and track.

  • I began my basketball coaching career at Madison Christian School in 2013; coached Camryn for four years; and retired as the Girls Basketball Head Coach after nine successful seasons. Subsequently, I authored a book that published in August 2023 titled “A Players Program” which speaks to how I developed the Madison Christian School girls’ basketball program, cultivated positive team culture, communication, and relationships, as well as how to deal with adversity, leadership development and much more. Stuff we all deal with daily.

  • After college, Camryn was added to the Madison Christian School Athletic Staff as a part-time site director. She grew into this role to become the full time Assistant Athletic Director.

Earlier this month, my baby girl was named THE Director of Athletics at Madison Christian School which encompasses grades K thru 12. In this day and age where we are not the most patient humans when it comes to career growth, she is a testament to how a strong work ethic, having an open lens to learning, and patience actually pays off in the end even when the desired compensation is not quite where you want it to be at the beginning of the journey.

I am a proud Dad today and every day and I’m not afraid to share this with you nor anyone else that is within my circle. The gratitude that my family and I have for Madison Christian School and the trajectory of our growth from Day 1 is beyond amazing. The blessings we have experienced are not yet complete, because the best is still yet to come. Go Eagles!!
